What Models Look Better As A Sedan Than A Hatchback?

Unlike most of my fellow Americans, I've always preferred hatchbacks to sedans. In most (but not all) cases, hatchbacks are much more versatile than sedans and can carry more crap. I also tend to think they look better than sedans, for example the Suzuki SX4. The hatch SX4 looks pretty good, but the sedan has some wonky dimensions.

However, in the current generation Kia Rio I like the sedan better. Every time I see them in the flesh, I'm struck by how much more I like the sedan's looks than the hatch.

I'm not sure what it is about the Rio hatch that bothers me, but I know that when I view the hatch from the side something just seems off.

What do the rest of you think? Are there any other examples of a model where you think the sedan looks better than the hatch?

Impreza.

I don't see how the sedan is an improvement over the hatch in the Rio's case, the sedan form seems much too tall for me here.

My Corolla hatchback is also better-looking than the very terrible sedan of the same vintage.

I can go with that on the previous generation Impreza, but I like the current hatch. Full disclosure, I actually admit that I like the Dodge Caliber, and the current Impreza kinda cribs some of the styling cues of the Caliber. I know, there's no accounting for taste.

Blasphemy! The GR impreza(07-11) was must better in hatch form, but every other one before it was better in sedan

I might come up with more as well..

EDIT: Now how did that Avensis get there? Let's try with the hatch as well..That didn't work..

Agreed, the current Impreza sedan (I'm thinking of the WRX STI here since I can only think of that when discussing the Impreza) is actually really nice. The hatch, while nice-looking both from the front and behind, looked awful from the side.

Well, wasn't that the first time they built the hatch anyway? Of all the hatches I only really liked the STI variant. The rest just didn't work as well visually (alright, let's count the WRX in, too).

I think the weirdo taillights on the hatch ruin the back for me. This is so much sleeker to me.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think the wide body (GR, GV) Subaru WRX looks much better in sedan form.

I love how much longer the front is than the rear. And those hips!

I would have to say the current Mitsubishi Lancer. I would take the sedan over the Sportback any day of the week.
